Winter, I wouldn’t know which way it blows; I just know it’s cold. Winter, such a season of the heart I don’t want to know; I don’t want to know. Winter girl, come close to me. We can walk along this snowy ridge and talk of courtship and colder days and all the holiday pageantry. But she offers me so much snow and I would rather fall come this day. I would rather fall for her than see my breath as I walk away. There’s a townhouse I could buy where I can warm my bones by the fire. If the cold would melt, I’d bring you along; it would melt the sadness of our song. Jaybird come and fly this way; there’s a refuge for your frozen wings. Cathedral tower, broken window there; You and I can go there to pray. Mistletoe, I miss you dearly; you are not seasonal and neither is kissing. And winter, she has turned her face; I feel no warmth in her cold embrace. The leafless trees are comforting. I don’t know why, somehow they’re just like me. Arms folded tightly to my chest, scarf ‘round my neck; this is winter’s way. Winter girl, she hesitates. She feels for me; she feels for me. But this is no time for building a snowman. She is learning that no man can her winter dispel. Winter girl, I miss you so. You are not cold on your own accord. I know of your summer ways; they’ll come back someday. Sometime someday. Winter, I wouldn’t know which way it snows; I just know it’s cold. Winter, I wouldn’t know I just know it’s cold without you, love.

I know a beautiful summer’s day; I bask in the blonde of her hair’s sunrays. She is a thousand breaths of wind; rustling leaves, tousling green grass with warm August air. And sunsets brush the sky with rose as she blushes at such thoughts. And the trees all know her name... And in the sky I see her face.
